Make more money by increasing traffic to your site
Traffic is crucial. Without traffic any site with great content is no good. But the problem is that despite great ideas, not everyone is able to create traffic. And when we are talking about traffic, it means huge traffic, in thousands and millions not tens and hundreds.
Let’s discuss the ways by which we can build some great traffic, with minimum investment.
How can you increase the traffic to your site?
Increasing traffic is no silly game. You need to have a definitive strategy. When the masters do it, it seems like child’s play but it’s not. When they do it, they have a definitive strategy/plan in mind, that they wouldn’t have told you. Like you know, magicians never tell.
So first things first, before thinking on how to increase traffic, think about the following.
Find your USP
- What are your strengths?
Very simple question. many of us have lot of strengths but never use them. When you follow others, you tend to see only their strengths and think that those are the virtues needed to be successful. In fact, that’s not the case. It’s about finding what is unique in you. You may be a good photographer. You may have a better humor sense than the rest. May be even you’d be good looking than other geeks. So utilize it. - What is it that you can offer extra?
And think of what extra can you offer other than what you are doing right now? People are reading what you are today and you have that traffic. But you want more, so what is it that you can deliver extra to them? Find that out. If you are a photographer, you can click beautiful pictures to offer others. If you are a good designer, offer a design service for free. When people recognize your talents, they’ll come begging to you for more. - What is it that is missing from others?
While you develop things on yourself, also find out what’s that is missing from your competition? That may be your opportunity, but you wouldn’t have ever realized it. So digg well into your competition and find out what others are not offering, simply because they can’t and cash in on it. Let that be your USP. - What is it that you haven’t been utilizing?
It is also important to see what’s been hidden in you. As I said earlier, there are talents with everyone until you recognize it. Ask your friends, their opinion about your blog and may be someone who knows you well might tell you, Hey, I thought you’d be doing …….. you’ve been very good at it in school. And that’s when you’d realize that you were good in something that you are not utilizing now. So go for it.
Essentially, increasing traffic to your site requires uniqueness in content and the above are pointers to find that USP (Unique Selling Proposition) in you. When you find it, and use it wisely to generate some great unique content, which is the next step.
Develop Unique Content
So, with your USP, the next step is to develop unique content. What is unique content? Does it mean writing something someone has not written earlier? Well, it may sound like that, but if you go that way, then you won’t be able to score well. Because any topic you pick, someone would have already written or blogged about it. So what does it mean by unique content. Well, two things.
i) Uncopied stuff and ii) Articles with an original and new perspective
Yes, original and unique articles are those that are of course not copied from somewhere and those that have a whole new dimension about it. People can easily make out if a blog is copied or not simply because your readers might spend more time online than you and they may have more experience reading more blogs than you. So don’t take the chance but keep it original.
Promoting your site
Promoting is actually the last step you should opt for. Once everything is set and you have the content in place, you can go ahead promoting the site at various places. The reason why you should make sure you have the content ready is that, when you make sure that people are visiting your blog following promotions, you should make sure that we have everything ready to keep them engaged.
We shall discuss about “Promoting your blog” in the next articles.
